New breed of so-called Somali artists

Postby Sir-Luggoyo » Mon Dec 18, 2006 1:12 pm

What is your take of the new Somali breed of artists aka Wajiyo xun who never brought anything new to the Somali arts, but fukked up the old school's exquisite works and called it remix.

Mind you, they never bothered for the endorsement of the lyricist, music composer and the vocalist, they simply took the liberty of butchering every available song. In some cases, due to their poor knowledge of their mother tongue, they distort the lyrics into some kind of a Klingon language, which brings revulsion and nausea to anyone who genuinely understands and appreciates the roots, the richness and opulence of the Somali language

Basra

What are you implying?? Laughing Laughing

Lug,

You are right in some ways...but I look at it this way...at least they revived the somali songs...without them most of the diaspora kids
wouldnt know what somali song is and now they go to these Riwaayados and partys shaking the booties with Hassanoow rather than Shaggy or shean paul. Very Happy

PS. I started listening to somali songs and appreciating them just for the last 6 or 7 yrs..

Cawar,

Let them come up with something original but quit stealing other's works.

Samatr,
No way could any of the Wajiyo Xun be compared to Dhuulle and his peers.
