Cilmiile, You are definite right we neither can afford to turn Somali into a theoretician state nor can we afford to turn Somalia to the hands of A/Y and his political fallacy. First and foremost is fair for the sake of this debate to clarify a number of things; one which is more notable in your reply is the link you have made to Taliban. ItÂ’s a fact that UIC just like the Taliban emerged from humble beginning to drive out the warlords who have for so long hold these two ridden country to ransom, other than the above fact that I have stated I see no link or similarity in between UIC and Taliban. Most of these assume link to terrorism has been choreograph to undermine UIC as political power in and out of Somalia.
The assertion you have made was the that A/YÂ’s government was conceived in democratic process in Mbagathi in Kenya, but that seems so far from the truth and the structure of TFG parliament today clearly assume otherwise. There are about 120 parliamentary members amongst of which as dozen Warlords that notably include the President himself. The entire government was conceived not through a democratic process as you have put but it was born out of tribal structure thus determined what tribes hold what position and how many sit they will occupy in Baidoa that has always been the contention issue through the political process in Kenya and off course throughout the previous attempts by International community.
As you might know democracy implies the rule for all by all, in other word the rule by majority donÂ’t get me wrong here, I am not assume that any tribe should have the power all to itself, we know from previous experience the injustice, inequality and political prosecution that might rest in one tribe. What I am implying is if TFG was conceived through a just and a democratic process that will be reflected through public opinion and above all public support, as far I as I can tell the opposite seem to be true. You have a leader with no any political influence and the necessary faculty to enquire the mood of his subjects (Somalis); a leader that his political life have been paved not by his intellect for that matter but through his military career thatÂ’s why compromise and understanding lacks from his political verbs the only thing he knows betters is the use of military power to solve and settle dispute, but this time around luck and odds are not with him that is why he has sort the political and military support from Somalis arch rival the Ethiopian government to redeem his non existence government and a political fallacy that seems to only control a mere fraction of the country Baidoa and sorounding vicinity.
The other points you have mentioned are the threat mounted to Somaliland and Puntland, there is no way I can validate your claim but if is true there is no doubt reflects the zeal within UIC I personally nether supports that nor the claim to retrieve Somalia's territories from both in Kenya and in Ethiopia and I am certain most Somalis share that feelings too.
With regard to the separation of state and faith, a vital factor in healthy democracy, however important it is will not work in Somalia, first the psychology of most if not all are deeply entrenched in Islam irrelevant of tribes or clan and secondly is worthy noting that despotism or even liberal democracy may govern without faith, but liberty cannot. How is it possible that society should escape destruction if the moral tie is not strengthened in proportion as the political tie is relaxed? And what can be done with a people who are their own masters if they are not submissive to the deity. And since democracy implies "rule by majority" that sufficing public opinion will construct which sort of government and governance style may be instituted in Somalia. Example the majority of Somalis in Mogadishu have shown there loath for tribal politics and clan warfare that have lay siege of the capital city for almost two decades and dispense thousand of innocent life to early and unnecessary grave. Is there any thing wrong if majority of Somalis in the northern have similar political and social views that favors UIC? IsnÂ’t that democracy in the smallest sense?
So whatÂ’s wrong if the majority of the inhabitants choose to have an Islamic style local government that seek to spouse and govern the city by Shariah law? My views is the will of the people have to be respected if they have opted for a government that govern through Shariah law so be it? no external entity have the right to question the will of those people simply on the premises that global terrorist groups may seek by default to called Somalia home or form an intricate relation with the government by default since they both Moslem.
I believe that Sharia law if is carefully and thoughtfully applied that it will teaches all Somalis, who will but consult it, that being equal and independent irrelevant of qabil and class, no one ought to harm another in his life, health, liberty or possessions for that matter and may not unless it be to do justice on an offender, take away, or impair the life, or what tends to the preservation of the life, liberty health or property of another. And is through the Shariah Law that the rampant abuse unleashed by backward ideology of qabil and not to mention the psychological, financial and political abuse dispense by previous regime(s) in Somalia such as the likes of Siyat Barre against there chosen victims based on their tribal characteristics, as Sharia Law will remove any subtle abnormalities engraved in typical Somali culture of pathological association with qabils, Shariah law unlike man made laws is indifference and does not give a fock to Derod/Hewiya/Essak or any other tribal institution, and any leader that seek to base the functionality of his/her government on qabil modus operandi will find hard to circumvent the system.
The truth is the TFG days are number thanks to Abdullahi YussufÂ’s poor foresights and imprudent political calculation he has finally render legitimacy, credibility and moreover public supports inadvertently to UIC that will definitely once and for all relegating him and his political fallacy to the garbage bin of SomaliaÂ’s political history.
