Hailey, that wouldnt make any sense, Allah says that he will judge us equally, and that he is a fair judge....so how can someone equal, and someone UNequal be judged the same? By that, I mean, if the weight of each special responsibilty were different, how can we be judged the same? There is a flaw in the understanding of that ayah/hadith if someone where to believe that.

With regards to the beating thing, first of all, its haram to BEAT your wife, she is not a donkey or a horse, she is a human being and the Prophet (pbuh) has never once hit his wives nor has he ever condoned BEATING a woman your'e married to.

"Among the Muslims, the most perfect as regards his faith is the one whose character is most excellent, and the best among you are those who treat their wives well." (Narrated by Tirmidhi.)

Allah is merciful so why would a being, stronger than the other being, be allowed to beat her with permission from Allah?? There are steps one has to take first...like TALKING then not lying together...and then you can hit her lightly...but there are so many rules governing this (like; not on the face, you cant scar her or damage anything) that I dont think it would be worth anything. I mean if my husband tapped me with a miswak on the bottom of my feet, would he be beating me? No. Actually beating me wouldnt help me respect him in anyway beyond that point though.

Allah said:
Surah 30, verse 21:
"And among His signs is that He created for you mates from among yourselves that you may live [dwell] in tranquility with them, and He has put love and mercy between you; verily, in that are signs for people who reflect"

How is that (love and mercy) even remotely possible if he beats me?
Just try to apply your God given logic to what the Quran says....Allah tells us his attributes for a reason, so that we can use that logic to see if we have undertood a verse correctly.

Arab, concepts like 'beat' and 'A man is by nature polygamous'?? I think we read different Quran.

Leave the job to Gedo...

[concepts like 'beat' and 'A man is by nature polygamous'??]

"Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allah has given the one more (strength) than the other, and because they support them from their means. Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient, and guard in (the husband's) absence what Allah would have them guard. As to those women on whose part ye fear disloyalty and ill-conduct, admonish them (first), (Next), refuse to share their beds, (And last) beat them (lightly); but if they return to obedience, seek not against them Means (of annoyance): For Allah is Most High, great (above you all)." 4:34

Do you insist on the evidence regarding men's polygamous nature?
Ayaan makes sense. It appears that the Muslims are by far the most dangerous group in the world. Muslims seem to be a threat to everything that is founded on human rights and dignity. Why is it that in Islam it is acceptable for one to marry a child of 9? Why is it ok, for a man to beat his wife, as it states in the Qur’an? Aren't both men and women equal? Why is it only the Muslims that cannot take criticism? Why do they resort to beheadings? There is something wrong here, the interesting part will be when I post this thread and many of you will call me names, and wish me death. If a non Muslim mocks the faith, why do you all burn embassies, or stone people? Shouldn’t he be left to god's judgement?
Salam alaikum
...will you please take your silly words back!!!
walahi bilah i hate when people talk without knowing whats really going on! Subhanalah i agree with Ayaan kulaha subhana laah, walal cimriga ale yuu kuu soo kooben ee ilaah u noqo, subhanalah subhanalah, anyway the earlier century and long time ago (the days when the prophet mohammed peace be upon him were alive) it was normal for 7,8 or 9 years old girls to get married... girls at that age weren't babies i mean they used, and till now, to get their first period at that age and they were grown women enough to get married... beside why do all the people in the world talking about this issue and specially these so called ”muslims” like you and ayaan(sorry)?? come one walal this is our noble prophet scw and we love him more than anything we just don't care what others would say about him!!! just go to the western culture where 1 of 4 little girls get raped by their own fathers subhanalah!! why no one talks about that?? Or when a 15-16 years girls move to her boyfriends house.. anyway aisha was to become the greatest woman scholar in islam., she was so intelligent she absorbed everything and most of the knowledge we have today as far as wife and husband matters is due to her..

wa salam (please you has to go to a sheikh walahi)

Ayan is not right!

I saw the woman on newsnight she is barely able to string a sentence together. She is of limited intelligence but shrewd enough to know that if you insult Islam you will be feted by the west for daring to say what they wish they could.

No Somali woman is a real feminist because Somali women essentially hate eachother, they are more likely to fight over some farax than show real compassion and empathy for another woman's pain. Ayan is a fraud she aint no feminist she just knows how to manipulate gaalo into giving her a job in a think tank, and the notoriety she craves.
