GHANA: UNIVERSITY STUDENTS DEMAND APOLOGY FROM MUSICIAN December 16, 2005

(SomaliNet) Following a comment over radio by female Ghanaian Hiplife artist, Mzbel about university students, the students want an apology. Mzbel described the students as “ a bunch of uncivilized and useless people.”

Mzbel’s comments came after she was assaulted at the KNUST campus. However, the students say that this does not give her leave to call them useless. Under the University Students Association of Ghana, they demand that she retracts her words and apologize to all university students in the country.

Meanwhile, the musician is not willing to apologize. “I won’t apologize to anyone. I didn’t say all university students. I said some of them were uncivilized and useless. Some of them are useless because they do not know why they are in school. Yes I said on Peace FM and I stand by my words. If I get the chance I will say it again. Why are they asking me to apologize when they haven’t apologized to me for the way I was treated?” she told graphic showbiz.

The students further ask Mzbel to change her dressing, which they describe as provocative.
