(SomaliNet) The Nigerian government has increased the amount of taxes levied on foreign brands of rice. This is aimed at increasing market for the local brands.

While some economists agree with this governmentdecision, others are not satisfied with this move. Some say that under these circumstances, if local brands are not produced in larger quantities, there is bound to be food shortage.
