NIGERIA: MORE DEAD IN OIL CRISIS January 25, 2006

Kizza Harajah

(SomaliNet) Nine people have been killed in another oil crisis in Southern Nigeria. This was after a battle broke out between security forces and gunmen at an Italian oil company.

The deceased include eight policemen and one civilian. Several others are wounded. A bank on the premises was also raided.

It is yet to be established whether the gunmen have linkages with militants who have made it a habit to attack oil facilities in the country. These attacks have led to 10% reduction in oil production.
