NIGERIA NOT AMONG INTERNATIONAL TOURISM ATTRACTORS January 27, 2006

(SomaliNet) The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) presented the top tourist attraction countries on Wednesday. However, Nigeria was not mentioned. According to the report, tourism grew at a rate of 5.5% from last year.
This was despite terrorist attacks and other disasters.UNWTO Secretary-General, Francesco Frangialli said"The tourism sector has gained substantially in resilience over the past years. In spite of the turbulent environment we live in nowadays, destinations worldwide added some 100 million international arrivals between 2002 and 2005."
African countries that fared well include Kenya, Mozambique, South Africa, the Seychelles and Mauritius. Tunisia topped the North African countries.
