NIGERIA: TEXTILE FAKING RUINS NIGERIAN MARKET January 28, 2006

Kizza Harajah

(SomaliNet) Textile faking is yet another habit adopted by smugglers. They get the logos and names of genuine traders alongside "Made in Nigeria", imprint them on their fabrics for exportation.

The above was as revealed by the Executive Secretary of Nigeria Textiles Manufacturer Association (NTMA) Chief J. Peter Olanrewaju.

This leads to exportation of poor quality fabrics which costs the Nigerian share on the World market greatly. Besides, their pric es are usually lower than those of genuine products.
