(SomaliNet) Following the poor behaviour of the Libyan fans who damaged property at Cairo International Stadium during their MTN Africa Cup of Nations match against Ivory Coast and Egypt against Morocco, The Libyan Football Association has been fined US$10,000.
Libya was ordered to pay the fine before they played their last group match on Saturday against Morocco. Under Article 77 and 140 of CAF Disciplinary Code, the Libyan football authority was found guilty of not controlling their fans. However Libya has a right to appeal over the fine.
Meanwhile, the issue of unpaid allowances and match bonuses in African football seems not to end. Democratic Republic of Congo players had refused to take the field for their Group Two opener against Togo until President Joseph Kabila rang the team 15 minutes before kick off. Congo won 2-0.
