NIGERIA: FOREIGN OIL WORKERS RELEASED January 30, 2006

(SomaliNet) Four foreign oil workers captured two weeks ago were released yesterday. They were released in a yet to be disclosed location to the Nigerian government negotiators. This was released by Nelson Azabolanari, commissioner for information in Bayelsa state.

From there,they will be flown to the Abuja, where they will be handed over to their respective embassies .

The released include Patrick Landry from Louisana, Nigel Watson-Clark from Britain, Milko Nichev from Bulgaria and Honduran Harry . "We are very happy that they have been released safely," said Graeme Bannatyne, spokesman for the British High Commission in Nigeria.

They had been abducted by the Movement for the Emancipation of the People of the Niger Delta who demanded that local Nigerians benefit more from the oil wealth. However, they were released unconditionally.
