SOUTH AFRICA TO HOST FIRST PROGRESSIVE GOVERNANCE SUMMIT February 10, 2006

(SomaliNet) For the first time, the progressive Governance Summit is to take place on the African continent. The lucky host will be South Africa. The South African event is to bring together the leaders of New Zealand, United Kingdom, Korea, Sweden, Ethiopia, Brazil and South Africa.
The summit will take place in South African city, Hamanskraal, north-east Pretoria from Saturday 11th to Sunday 12th.
The major themes of the summit will be: Development and Africa - what progressives should do following the New York summit, and Policy Challenges of the 21st Century relating to economic growth, new security threats and building cohesive societies.
A preparatory meeting for the summit was held in July 2005 under the theme "Putting the people first: Towards a common progressive...."
