NIGERIA: MORE FOREIGN OIL WORKERS CAPTURED February 18, 2006
Kizza Harajah
(SomaliNet) Three Americans were among foreign oil workers kidnapped in separate military attacks in the Niger Delta. They were moved from a boat owned by Wilbros, a US firm.
The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta has said that the attacks were designed and completed by them
According to an official from Wilbros, the Nigerian military guards were no match for the over 40 militants.
This is not the first time these militants have claimed responsibility for oil attacks in Nigeria. In the recent past, they captured other foreign workers who they later released. They claim that they are fighting on behalf of millions of Nigerians who benefit little from Nigeria’s oil wealth.
