NIGERIA: PHILLIPINES GOVERNMENT TO ENSURE RELEASE OF FILIPINO February 20, 2006

(SomaliNet) The Phillipines government has promised to ensure that the Filipino who was kidnapped in Nigeria is released. The Filipino was among nine other foreign oil workers kidnapped by a militant group in Nigeria.

This follows a statement from Phillipines's president to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to ensure the release of the unidentified Filipino. The Filipino government is to work hand in hand with its embassy in Nigeria to ensure that he is safe.

This is the second time in a short time that foreign oil workers are kidnapped in Nigeria. The first time, these oil workers were released. The fate of these ones is yet to be decided.
