GHANA: URINATING IN A PUBLIC PLACE IS ILLEGAL February 21, 2006

Kizza Harajah

(SomaliNet) One could attract a court hearing for indececent exposure in Ghana if caught easing oneself in a public place. This was uttered by lawyer, Kwame Amankwah Bosompem.

To him, this not causes environmental degradation but also affects Ghana's tourism industry negatively. He further observed that this practise is common at the beaches of Accra, Ghana. He noted that the cause of this is limited availability of places of convenience in these places.

Bosompem also serves the Public Relations Department of Ghana's Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ). He made the above comments during a training workshop on Human Rights Reporting for Ghana's journalists. It was organised by Human Rights and Canadian International Agency (CIDA).
