NIGERIA: MILITANTS WON'T RELEASE REMAINING CAPTIVES March 6, 2006

(SomaliNet) Nigerian militants had no plans of releasing the remaining three captives by Sunday. These include 2 Americans and one Briton.
The militants under the Move for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) will also continue with their attacks till their mission is fulfilled. "We are going to inflict one huge, crippling blow on the Nigerian oil industry and a most embarrassing attack on the Nigerian government," the militants told the Associated Press.
They have threatened to reduce Nigeria's oil production by 1 million barrels."Our target for the month of March is a further cut of 1 million barrels," the militants revealed.
Their activities have already reduced Nigeria's oil production by 455,000 barrels daily. Associated Press. A barrel now goes for $60. They claim that they are fighting for the ordinary citizen of Nigeria who benefits very little from the country's oil wealth.
