CHAD TALKS ON STATE OF WAR WITH SUDAN December 24, 2005

Apunyu Bonny

(SomaliNet) Chadian government has announced that a "state of war" existed between it and neighbouring Sudan in connection with an attack on the Chadian town of Adre earlier in week, the British Broadcasting Corporation reported early this morning Saturday 24th.

According to the BBC report, Chad has also accused Sudanese militias of regular aggression into Chadian territory. Last Sunday, around 100 persons were killed in the town of Adre in fighting with Chadian rebels, which Chad has accused the government of Sudan of supporting.

Spokesman of the Sudanese rebel group Sudan Liberation Movement and Army, Esam El-Hadj, In an interview with Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa earlier Friday, alleged that the Sudan government was exporting the conflict in the western Sudanese region of Darfur to neighbouring countries by training Chadian renegades and deserters to wage war against the government of Chad.

He warned that "Such moves would worsen the situation of Sudanese refugees in Chad,"
