RWANDA: SENIOR GOV’T OFFICIAL ARRESTED IN GERMANY November 10, 2008
(SomaliNet) A senior Rwandan government official has been arrested in Germany. Rose Kabuye, a close associate of President Paul Kagame was detained after France issued an international warrant for her arrest.
Sources say she was allegedly involved in the 1994 attack on the life of then Rwandan president Juvénal Habyarimana.
The downing of his plane was the starting shot for the Rwandan genocide, in which 800,000 Tutsis and moderate Hutus were killed. Rwanda is furious about the arrest and is considering what steps to take.-RNW
