RWANDA: THOUSANDS PROTEST AGAINST ARREST OF RWANDAN OFFICIAL IN GERMANY November 11, 2008

(SomaliNet) Thousands of angry residents of the Rwandan capital Kigali have taken to the streets to protest against the arrest of a high-ranking Rwandan functionary in Germany.

Earlier, the Rwandan government summoned the German ambassador to protest.

Rose Kabuye, a close colleague of the Rwandan President Paul Kagamé, was arrested on Sunday at Frankfurt airport, two years after an international warrant for her arrest was issued by France.

She is suspected of playing a role in the 1994 murder of the former Rwandan president Juvénal Habyarimana.

Berlin has announced that Ms Kabuye will soon be extradited to France.-RNW
