(SomaliNet) Kenya’s former Cabinet minister Chris Murungaru, will appear before Kenya’s court today Friday if anti-corruption chief Aaron Ringera maintains his threat to have the Narc kingpin arrested and charged for refusing to declare his wealth.
Kenya’s MP Paul Muite confirmed Thursday night that former Internal Security minister had been ordered to present himself before Nairobi chief magistrate Aggrey Muchelule this morning.
Anti-corruption police announced that they were determined to take Mr. Murungaru to court for disobeying Mr. Ringera's order that he should account for his wealth and that of his relatives and close associates.
The punishment for failing to comply with a demand to reveal your wealth - made under the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Act of 2003 - is a three-year jail term or Sh300, 000 fine, or both.
Mr. Murungaru emerged from the interview to claim that he had voluntarily presented himself for questioning, which had centred on the Naval ship tender by the military, valued at Sh4 billion.
