SUDAN: 2 JOURNALISTS ARRESTED AND CHARGED WITH INCITEMENT March 10, 2006

(SomaliNet) Two Sudanese journalists of al-Watan newspaper have been arrested and charged with incitement for reporting on a statement made by Mohammed Abdallah Sheik Idriss.

Mr. Mohammed Abdallah Sheik Idriss who is the head of the pro-government students union made a statement on offering a 100, 000 dollar bounty for the head of Jan Pronk, UN envoy to Sudan.

Al-Watan newspaper’s editor in chief, Sid Ahmed Khalifa, and the journalist who wrote the strory, Mustafa Abu al-Azaim, have both been arrested and accused of incitement.

Mean while, a spokesman for the students' union denied the offer of a bounty for Jan Pronk's head.
