SOMALIA: 6 KILLED, DOZENS WOUNDED AS GUNFIGHTS ERUPT ON STREETS OF SOMALIA November 10, 2008
(SomaliNet) At least six people were killed and dozens of others wounded when gunfights erupted on the streets of Mogadishu on Sunday.
Sources say the violence came after insurgents attacked a base for African Union peacekeepers.
Meanwhile, in two other separate incidents, gunmen also killed the deputy governor of the Bay region in the southwest, as well as an aid worker in the south.
At least 16 aid workers have been killed so far this year in Somalia, which is caught up in a civil war with insurgents.
The war has left more than two million people dependent on food aid, and control of aid has often provoked fresh bouts of violence among the country's warlords.-Xinhua
