SOMALIA: ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT ON WELL-KNOWN TV REPORTER May 24, 2005

TV and radio reporter, Mr. Abdalla Nuradin was shot three times in his family shop in Mogadishu around eight forty-five Somalia local time tonight. The shooter is said to have fled the seen after the assassination attempt.

SomaliNet reporter, Hassan Dhaley said the victim was shot in the arm, leg and chest. He was taken to Madina Hospital’s emergency ward and his wounds are not life threatening. He is expected to recover fully.

Nuradin is not only distinguished journalist, he is also well known in Somali arts circles. He is poet, actor and song and play writer.

Mogadishu has some of the best surgeons in the world who have been working on bullet wounds regularly since 1991 when Somalia’s civil war reached the capital and the government was overthrown.
