DEPUTY SPEAKER: THERE ARE STILL SOME HURDLES ON THE WAY June 19, 2005
Members of the Somali transitional federal government in Mogadishu are due to meet with Banadir provincial authorities on Sunday to discuss their task ahead and to give assessment of their achievements so far. Sources told SomaliNet.
Deputy speaker of parliament Mr. Osman Elmi Boqore, speaking with Shabelle radio in Mogadishu, said they expect to raise many important issues including the completion of Mogadishu peace drive. He said there are still some obstacles they hope to overcome soon.
When asked whether the prime minister's arrival in Jowhar will be on the agenda, Mr Boqore said Only Mogadishu's security initiatives will be discussed and they have no intention to talk about the PM’s arrival.
The meeting comes, as there are still some roadblocks (extortion check points) in Mogadishu, after government members failed to dismantle them.
Somali Prime Minister, Mr. Ali Mohamed Geddi and his government relocated to Jowhar, Somalia from Kenya where his interim government was setup last year.
