Mr. Hersi Abdi Elmi who was in charge of Ifka Halan Islamic Court’s militia was killed after his car was ambushed in broad daylight. He was alone in the car and no one else was hurt in the shooting. His job was to enforce the court’s decisions, sometimes dealing with armed and uncooperative fugitives.

Mogadishu residents witnessed another high profile murder last night when the head of WSF International affiliate organization, CDR Somalia was killed at his residence.

Mysterious killings of politicians and former Somali government officials have been on the rise in the past several months.

Somalia has been without a central government for more than a decade and the new interim government does not have the power or resources needed to re-establish security in the country.
