SOMALIA AND EU August 10, 2005

Somali Prime Minister, Ali Mohamed Gedi announced his government’s receipt of forty million Euro ($50 million dollars) from EU (European Union) after meetings that took place in Jowhar, Somali temporary capital.

The prime minister also said he discussed with the European delegation helping Somalia and the African Union with the planned deployment of African troops in the country. This announcement came after his cabinet met in Jowhar today. Today’s agenda included Mogadishu’s lack of security and how the government can help improve that city’s fate.

EU and AU representatives are meeting in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia regarding Somalia’s future and its urgent need for international help.
