CHAMPIONSHIP: WEST BROMWICH DOUBLE SIGNS FROM MIDDLESBROUGH August 9, 2007

(SomaliNet) West Bromwich Albion has completed their seventh and eighth summer signings with the double capture of Middlesbrough midfielder James Morrison and Stoke defender Carl Hoefkens.

Morrison makes the move to the Hawthornes for £1.5 million.

The 21-year-old graduated from the club's youth system in 2004, after playing a key role in helping Boro to the FA Youth Cup.

He went on to make over 60 first team appearances for the Teesiders, mainly on the right wing, scoring three goals.

West Brom Tony Mowbray said: "James is a very talented young playerand we're delighted he agreed to join us.

"He's a creative midfield player and will bring versatility to our attacking options.

"Despite the fact he's only 21, he already has more than 60 Premiership appearnaces under his belt and was a regular in the Boro side which reached the UEFA Cup final.

"We're now giving him a platform to be a part of something we're trying to build here."

Belgium international Hoefkens joins the Baggies for £750,000. The versatile defender has signed a two- year contract.

Mowbray said: "Carl really impressed me both times he played against us last season.

"I have also watched him play for his country and I believe he is just the type of footballer who will enhance our style of play.

"He is really pleased to be here and is keen to help the club be successful."-Eurosport
