CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: MAN-U’S RONALDO, NANI TO MEET FORMER CLUB August 31, 2007
(SomaliNet) The Championship grouping will see Manchester United wingers Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani return to their former club Sporting Lisbon for the Champions League group stage.
The Red Devils were drawn against the Portuguese side, last season's quarter-final opponents Roma and Dynamo Kiev in Group F.
There will be no Anglo-Scottish derby, as SPL representatives Celtic and Rangers both avoided English opponents.
Rangers were handed possibly the toughest draw of all six British teams, however, as they will play Barcelona, Lyon and German champions Stuttgart in Group E.
Meanwhile Celtic take on holders Milan along with Benfica and Shakhtar Donetsk.
Chelsea also face two tough assignments against Valencia and Schalke, but their task will be made slightly easier by the inclusion in Group B of Rosenborg.
Last season's finalists Liverpool have every reason to be happy with their draw after coming through the qualifying rounds - they face Porto, Marseille and Besiktas.
Arsenal will play the winner of Sevilla's qualifier against AEK Athens, along with Steaua Bucharest and Slavia Prague - city neighbours of qualifying round victims Sparta.
Sevilla and AEK Athens are both in the draw after their second leg was postponed following the death of Antonio Puerta. The Spanish side lead 2-0.
Teams play each other home and away over six Match Days, starting on 18/19 September and climaxing on 11/12 December.-Eurosport
