(SomaliNet) U.S elect president Barack Obama is expected at the White House on Monday for a meeting with President George W Bush about the war in Iraq and the financial crisis.

Until the official transfer of power in January, Mr. Bush will keep his successor informed of ongoing policy issues.

Meanwhile, Bush has warned that terrorist may try to use the transitionary period to carry out an attack.

Mr. Obama on Thursday spoke with the leaders of nine United States allies - Australia, Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Israel, Japan, Mexico and South Korea - and thanked them for their congratulatory messages following his election victory.

The president-elect is preparing to hold his first post-election news conference Friday. It is expected that he will announce some further appointments in his new administration. Illinois congressman Rahm Emanuel accepted the post of Mr. Obama's chief-of-staff on Monday.-Agencies
