U.S: ELECT PRESIDENT OBAMA PAYS FIRST VISIT TO WHITE HOUSE November 11, 2008
(SomaliNet) U.S elect president Barack Obama, accompanied by his wife Michelle has paid his first visit to the White House. Obama was welcomed by incumbent President George W Bush.
Michelle was taken on a guided tour by current first lady Laura Bush. The couple's young daughters stayed behind in Chicago.
The current president and the president-elect withdrew into the Oval Office for 90 minutes of discussions. The atmosphere between the two men appeared to be friendly, despite Mr Obama's fierce criticisms of the president's policies.
Mr. Obama's advisors say he will reverse many of his predecessor's policies after his inauguration on 20 January. Sources say he will allow stem cell research and halt the expansion of oil and gas drilling.-RNW
