INDIA NEGOTIATING A $1.5 -BILLION ARMS DEAL WITH ISRAEL November 11, 2008

(SomaliNet) India is negotiating a deal with Israel to purchase early warning intelligence planes and advanced missiles at a cost of USD 1.5 -billion.

The daily Israeli Ha'aretz reported on Monday that Indian Defense Secretary Vijay Singh will lead a delegation to Israel this week to purchase the planes and missiles from Israeli Aerospace Industries.

The delegation will also discuss cooperation with Israel on intelligence matters and on the so-called war on terror.

The Indian delegation includes senior defense officials, high ranking army officers and officials involved in military research, according to the Press Trust of India.

India had earlier bought Phalcon AWACS plane radars from Israel for USD 1.1 billion but the planes' delivery has been delayed. New Delhi has also made other big deals with Israel recently involving a sea-to-sea missile project and the purchase of anti-aircraft missiles.-Press TV
