IRAQ: 19 DIE IN VIOLENCE December 6, 2006

(SomaliNet) Nineteen people died on Wednesday in violence in Iraq, and 23 bodies were found in Baghdad, all believed to be victims of sectarian death squads.
Most of the bloodshed took place in the volatile capital, where Sunni-Shiite sectarian warfare erupted in February after the bombing of the Shiite shrine in Samarra and has continued throughout the year. The discovery of bodies, such as the 23 found today, symbolizes the sectarian strife.
The deadliest attack so far Wednesday was the result of mortar fire in the central Baghdad district of Midan that killed 10 people and wounded 54 others. A suicide bomber wearing an explosives belt detonated inside a minibus in the Shiite neighborhood of Sadr City, killing three passengers and wounding 16 others.
