Zainab Osman

(SomaliNet) Two major caches with ammunition have been found in Chechnya, head of the press service of the Interior Republic Magomed Deniyev said on Thursday.

One of the caches, which was hidden on the territory attached to the soccer club Terek in the city of Argun, was found by police jointly with officers of the Military Commandant's Office. The hiding place contained a RPG-26 grenade launcher, three mines, 11 grenades, two smoke-boxes, three RPG-7 projectiles and more than 500 cartridges.

According to Deniyev, the ammunition belonged to participants in the underground Isa and Ali Muskiyevs destroyed in September this year.

Another cache was discovered on the road leading to Grozny from the village of Michurino. Two containers with 52 mines were hidden behind the bridge at the carriageway. All the found ammunition was exploded on the spot.

Deniyev also said that over the past 24 hours, four members of illegal armed groups have given themselves up to the law enforcement bodies of Chechnya. One of them voluntarily surrendered a submachine-gun. All of them are being checked now.
