Reports from Uganda’s NTV confirmed Sunday evening that pioneer news anchor Rosemary Nankabirwa has died at Aga Khan Hospital in Kenyan capital, Nairobi.

The former English news anchor’s family reportedly confirmed the death of their daughter saying she had been put off life support.
On Saturday afternoon, Nankabirwa had been flown to Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi as thousands of well-wishers responded to a car wash fundraising drive at Serena Hotel Kampala to raise over sh100m for her treatment.

Nankabirwa, who was battling adrenocortical carcinoma cancer, had been hospitalised at Cancer institute and Heart institute at Mulago hospital before she was taken to Nairobi.
