A two-month-old baby girl is among some 356 migrants recued by Tunisia's navy on Wednesday off the country's southeastern coast near Ben Guerdane, a Red Crescent official told AFP.
Ammar Lamloum reportedly said the migrants, mainly Africans, had been trying to reach the Italian island of Lampedusa when they were rescued. "They are now at the port in Ben Guerdane," he reportedly said.
