German court sentences Rwandan man to life imprisonment over 1994 church massacre

A Rwandan man of Hutu tribe was on Tuesday sentenced to life in jail by a German court for his active role in orchestrating a church massacre of hundreds of Tutsis during the 1994 genocide.

Uganda’s New Vision reported citing AFP that the former town mayor Onesphore Rwabukombe, 58, had previously been sentenced to 14 years prison for aiding and abetting the crime.

Saudi Arabia: Death toll reaches 107 after cranes collapses on Mosque in Mecca

CNN has reported early Saturday morning that the death toll has reached 107 after a crane collapsed on Mosque in Mecca.

BBC  had  cited late  Friday the Saudi Arabian government as saying some 87 people have died after a crane collapsed on the Grand Mosque in the Muslim holy city of Mecca.

Saudi Arabian civil defence authority reportedly said on Twitter that more than 180 people were injured in the accident, according to BBC who added that images from the scene showed part of a huge red crane crashed through the mosque's roof. The cause of the collapse is not known.

Italian forces have rescued 4,400 migrants off the coast of Libya in in just one day after responding to requests for help from more than 20 vessels, Italy's coast guard said Sunday according to VOA. According to reports, Italy has been routinely carrying out similar rescues, bringing hundreds of migrants to its shores, but the scale of Saturday's operation was unusually large.

Thailand: Explosion kills 22 people in Bangkok

Eight foreigners are among some 22 people killed in an explosion late Monday near a popular tourist site in Thailand's capital Bangkok.VOA reported that the blast hit central Bangkok's commercial Ratchaprasong intersection, close to the open-air Erawan Hindu shrine leaving more than 120 wounded.

VOA also reported that the explosion targeted an area that draws tourists and shoppers with five-star hotels and upscale stores. Surveillance cameras caught the moment the bomb went off as cars and motorcycles passed through the busy corner.

U.S: Donald Trump to spend $1 billion on Presidential campaign

According to a CNN report, Republican Presidential aspirant, Donald Trump said Saturday that he's prepared to spend $1 billion on his campaign if necessary.

"It's irrelevant," he reportedly said when asked by CNN's Jeremy Diamond outside the Iowa State Fair on how much he has spent so far on his campaign. "I make $400 million a year, so what difference does it make? What I want to do is make the country great."

Iraq: 13 killed, 52 others wounded by car bomb in Baghdad

At least 13 people were killed and 52 others wounded on Saturday at by a car bomb at a popular auto dealership in a Shi'ite-majority suburb of Baghdad, Iraqi officials said according to VOA.

Reports say the explosion hit the Habibiya neighborhood of Sadr City, the same district where a massive truck bomb ripped through a wholesale vegetable market just two days before, killing 67 people — one of the worst attacks in Baghdad in a decade.

China: Over 100 dead after massive explosions in port of Tianjin

According to the latest official sources, the death toll from massive explosions in the Chinese port of Tianjin has risen to 104 including 21 firefighters, state media reported Saturday according to VOA.

Agencies reported that Chinese authorities ordered an immediate mandatory evacuation near the site of the massive fire and explosions that devastated an industrial neighborhood in the northeastern city.
