Following a declaration of Liberia as Ebola free earlier this month, Chinese President Xi Jinping has reportedly sent a message to Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, congratulating her on Liberia's victory in its fight against the deadly disease Ebola, Xinhua reported Monday.

The Chinese leader reported said in a messege that China and Africa are good partners and friends and it is incumbent on China to support Africa in fighting the Ebola epidemic. Xinhua reported the Chinese president as saying  that at a crucial time when African countries including Liberia were hit by the Ebola epidemic in early August of last year, the Chinese government and people took the lead in offering several rounds of emergency humanitarian aid and made positive contribution to Liberia's victory over Ebola.

Earlier this month, the World Health Organization announced that the outbreak of Ebola virus in Liberia is over, and Sirleaf sent a message to Xi and thanked China for its huge contribution to Liberia's fight against Ebola.
