U.S coalition airstrikes kill 28 Islamic State (IS) militants in Iraq

A U.S.-led coalition airstrikes killed at least 28 Islamic State (IS) militants Monday as the militants clashed with the Iraqi security forces in the province of Anbar, a provincial security source said according to Xinhua.

A source which reportedly spoke to Xinhua on condition of anonymity said at least 20 IS militants were killed and dozens others wounded when the international coalition warplanes pounded a bomb-making factory in the IS-held provincial capital city of Ramadi, some 110 km west of Baghdad.

Over 430 people killed as temperatures top 50 degrees Celsius in parts of Inida

Extreme heat waves in the past days topping 50 degrees Celsius (122 degrees Fahrenheit) has killed over 430 people in two Indian states, officials said Monday according to AFP.

According to reports, many parts of India, including national capital New Delhi, have endured days of sweltering heat, prompting fears of power cuts. But the highest temperatures have been recorded in Telangana and neighbouring Andhra Pradesh state, with officials saying more death may occur.

Poland: Opposition candidate Duda wins Presidential elections

In what has been described as a ‘shock win’, Conservative newcomer Andrzej Duda from the Law and Justice (PiS) opposition party won Poland's presidential run-off with 51.55 percent of the vote, official results showed Monday according to AFP.

According to Reuters, with parliamentary elections due in late October, the defeat for President  Komorowski, an ally of Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz and a former Civic Platform lawmaker, will weigh on the party's chance of re-election.

Syria: Islamic State militants execute over 90 people in past 7 days

The head of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights told CNN on Sunday that ISIS fighters in the Syrian city of Palmyra have executed more than 90 people including at least 11 children in the last seven days.

SOHR Executive Director Rami Abdurrahman reportedly said many of the people killed were family members of Syrian regime forces or policemen.According to CNN, the U.N. Refugee Agency said last week that at least 11,000 people have fled Palmyra and its surrounding villages after ISIS took control of the area.

Saudi Arabia: 21 killed in an attack on a Shiite mosque

At least 21 people were killed and 81 wounded in an attack by an Islamic State group suicide bomber on a Shiite mosque in Saudi Arabia on Friday, the health ministry said, AFP reported Saturday.

According to Saudi Arabia's news agency APS, "the terrorist attack left 21 dead and 81 wounded, including 12 in critical condition", the ministry reportedly said.

Netherlands: Cabinet approves ban on Islamic veils in public areas ‘for security reasons’

A partial ban on face-covering Islamic veils on public transport and in public areas such as schools and hospitals has been approved by the Dutch cabinet , The Guardian reported Friday.

“Face-covering clothing will in future not be accepted in education and healthcare institutions, government buildings and on public transport,” after the cabinet backed a bill by the interior minister, Ronald Plasterk, the government said in a statement on Friday.

Mexico: 39 killed in clash between armed group and Federal Police

A clash between an armed group and Mexico’s Federal Police on Friday left at least 39 people dead in central state of Michoacan, authorities reportedly said. Xinhua reported sources from Mexico government's security cabinet as saying the armed group launched the attack against agents in the township of Tanhuato.
