Al-Shabaab leader wanted by U.S dies in Somalia

Sheikh Hassan Turki (also known as Hassan Abillahi Hersi Turki), an Al-Shabaab leader wanted by the United States has died in Somalia, the Somali-based militant group announced Thursday according to CNN.

A radio channel for Al-Shabaab reportedly carried a message that Sheikh Hassan died Wednesday without mentioning the circumstances of his death.

Singapore Airline jet carrying over 180 people looses both engines

In an incident that reportedly had no casualties, a Singapore Airlines Airbus A330-300 carrying over 182 passengers and 12 crew temporarily lost power to both of its engines as it passed through a storm, the airline has said, CNN reported Thursday.

According to CNN, a spokesperson for the airline said Wednesday that Flight SQ836 was en route to Shanghai from Singapore on Saturday when it "encountered bad weather at 39,000 feet about three and a half hours after departure."

Syria: Islamic State militants execute over 90 people in past 7 days

The head of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights told CNN on Sunday that ISIS fighters in the Syrian city of Palmyra have executed more than 90 people including at least 11 children in the last seven days.

SOHR Executive Director Rami Abdurrahman reportedly said many of the people killed were family members of Syrian regime forces or policemen.According to CNN, the U.N. Refugee Agency said last week that at least 11,000 people have fled Palmyra and its surrounding villages after ISIS took control of the area.
